This Privacy Policy explains what information CalebZahnd.com (https://calebzahnd.com) collects, how it’s used, and the choices you have. This site is operated by Caleb Zahnd (“I,” “me,” or “we”). If you have questions, reach out at caleb(at)zahndfamily(dot)com.

Information I collect

Information you give me directly. When you fill out the contact form, I collect the information you choose to submit, typically your name, email address, and the contents of your message. I only use this to respond to you and to follow up on whatever you reached out about.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, this site uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors find and use it. GA4 collects standard usage data such as the pages you view, the time spent on the site, your approximate location (derived from IP address, which Google anonymizes), the type of device and browser you use, and the site or search that referred you. This data is aggregated and is not used to identify you personally.

How I use your information

I use the information collected to:

• Respond to contact form messages and any related follow up.
• Understand which content is useful so I can improve the site.
• Keep the site secure and functioning properly.

I do not sell your information, and I don’t share it with third parties for advertising.

Cookies and analytics

Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to recognize returning visitors and measure site usage. You can control or block cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics entirely using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Blocking cookies will not break the site.

A few service providers help run this site and may process limited data on my behalf:

• Google Analytics for usage analytics.
• Amazon Web Services (AWS) for hosting the site.
• Postmark for handling contact form messages.

These providers only receive the data needed to perform their function and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes beyond what their own policies describe.

Data retention

I keep contact form submissions for as long as needed to handle your inquiry and any reasonable follow up, then delete them when they’re no longer needed. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics’ standard retention settings.

How your information is protected

I take reasonable measures to protect the information collected through this site. That said, no method of transmission or storage online is completely secure, so I can’t guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

You can:

• Decline to submit the contact form (it’s entirely optional).
• Opt out of analytics tracking using the tools described above.
• Email me at caleb(at)zahndfamily(dot)com to ask what contact information I have about you, or to request that I delete it.

Children’s privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information through this site, contact me and I’ll delete it.

Links to other sites

This site may link to external sites, including portfolio work, client sites, or third party tools. I’m not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and I’d encourage you to review their policies (if you have insomnia).

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time. When I do, I’ll revise the effective date at the top. Significant changes will be noted on this page.
